As part of the EdCounsel team, Brian is a knowledgeable litigator who exclusively represents and counsels public schools on the legal issues that must be navigated by school boards and administrators. His background, experience, and focus on school law provide him the insight needed to evaluate emerging legal risks and recommend effective and efficient solutions to manage them .

Brian strongly believes in public schools. He attended public school from kindergarten through high school in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, before serving the United States Army Reserve, earning his Bachelor of Science at the University of Kansas and earning his law degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Brian is the proud dad to two young daughters, Lola and Mira, both in grade school. The Mayer family most enjoys spending time together, especially family game night and having donuts on Sunday mornings!
