Growing up in St. Louis City, Julia witnessed firsthand the important impact that a safe, positive school environment has on children. Having been influenced by her hard-working parents and excellent teachers, she stepped outside of her comfort zone and moved to Fulton, Missouri after high school to attend Westminster College, earning a  Bachelor’s Degree in two concentrations—Political Science and Philosophy—with a minor in Pre-Law. Julia’s been a mid-Missouri resident ever since that time, pursuing and obtaining her law degree at the University of Missouri where she focused on courses, extracurricular activities, and practical experience emphasizing public service.

Julia previously served as legal counsel for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources where she worked on a variety of general legal matters including environmental regulatory issues, Sunshine Law compliance, administrative rulemaking, and personnel matters. Julia successfully assisted in organizing and leading the Department’s Red Tape Reduction initiative drawing on her attention to detail and ability to tackle difficult processes to help the Department reduce outdated and unnecessary regulatory burdens.

Julia’s career has focused largely on employment matters, including wage and hour questions, workplace investigations, discipline, charges of discrimination, and general policy revisions. Julia enjoys helping clients make sound, informed decisions when presented with difficult and complex issues. She is excited to use her experience to help school districts provide the best environment for success.

Julia spends her free time with her husband Ryan, their daughter, Eleanor, and friends and family. She enjoys gardening, reading, staying active, cooking, and eating delicious food.
